Onshore Operation and Maintenance Engineer

Kings Langley, Hertfordshire

The Role

Joining the O&M team to ensure safe and reliable operation of the wind farms, duties will include monitoring performance of sites, tracking of downtime and maintenance issues and discussing issues with contractors, ensuring there is safe and timely intervention to fix faults by chasing contractors and occasionally being on call, on-site safety, security, environmental management and compliance (to be maintained with monthly reporting) and assisting in meetings on all wind farm O&M matters, dealing with grid outages and restarts as well as collation and checking of stats of operation, generation and availability. The position also requires liaising with the production support / engineering staff to alert them to faults and issues, discussing maintenance and retrofits required, helping with details of insurance claims, helping to upkeep the databases and checking of turbine parameters, power curves, etc.

Following induction and training, you will be required to make site visits to undertake inspections of sites for safety and operation and carry out audits of sites and contractors. You will also oversee work on site by contractors, including HV and turbine maintenance and crane activities. There will also be a requirement to liaise with landowners, local authorities and other stakeholders.

The Candidate

Electrical or mechanical engineer preferred, but more important to have a broad general engineering experience, knowledge and aptitude

Experience or knowledge of maintaining electro-mechanical plant will be an advantage

HV competency / understanding will be an advantage

Good IT skills essential – spreadsheets and databases

A head for heights – climbing ladders required

Confident, self motivated and self reliant but also work well within a team

Committed to ensuring the highest standards of health and safety.

Willing to learn other areas of engineering and take relevant training courses

UK driving licence required and ability to travel at short notice within the UK and Ireland.
